We have been to Moab, Utah before and stayed at the same RV Park – Canyonlands Campground – on South Main Street and part of the Texaco gas station. We really like the town and the atmosphere. There are lots of nice shops with some really nice art and jewelry, T-shirts, mugs, etc. but it is not bad (like Park City yet). The price for camping is high – $44 – but it is within easy walking distance to the restaurants and shops
This time we are just passing through and it was a convenient place to stop because it matched our schedule. We will not be doing any sightseeing this time. We did find out that this is a very busy time but even we don’t consider it bad. We will be on our way early tomorrow so we can get to Carol’s brother’s home in the afternoon. This place is high on our list for a visit next year.

On your way west.wish you had dropped down to Amana Colonies to visit folks setting up for GMCMI.
And wish you had closed out with a few notes on trip to Lakeside ( I have family there ) and on back to the house after such a long trip. Great to read of others adventures iin a GMC and thanks for tips on your site.
I just this morning realized that I dropped the trip before it was over – sorry. I guess I was just tired after writing for almost the whole trip, doing rally reports at the GMCWS rally, and then having to assemble the seminar materials on that site too. It is hard to go slow when we are on the way home after being gone for so long. Next time we go up there (Lakeside) we will take our time, take some photos, and see the area instead of just visiting. Maybe next year – I just want to find a way around those huge climbs on the most direct route. If we go up I-17 to I-40 it would probably be easier. For sure we will not tow our car up those hills any more.
I did consider going through the Amana area but we wanted to have some time in Park City before the GMCWS rally so not much time to spare. Our plan for future trips will be to get any scheduled stops done first and then have the rest of the trip be open-ended so we can do what we want as we go along.
